The South-East geo political zone chapter of the newly registered All Progressives Congress APC has declared that it would be “very impossible” for any candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA to unseat Imo state Governor, Rochas Okorocha in the 2015 general elections.
APC, was reacting to comments credited to APGA in the media that it would sack Okorocha from office come 2015 elections.
Publicity secretary of APC in the South-East , Mr. Osita Okechukwu, on behalf of the party, wondered whether the core ingredient of elections, which is performance, has changed.
He said the party is happy that APGA has postponed Okorocha’s sack to 2015, saying, “Were they not the ones who boasted that they will dethrone him if he publicly joined the APC, he asked.
“How can APGA that is on the departure lounge, and waiting for the last electoral battle in Anambra State, be talking of 2015 elections? Is it not a paradox that some elements are using ethnic sentiments to hoodwink few gullible Igbos who are by nature living in every nook and cranny of the country, invest in every corner of the country and hence, uncommon patriots?”
According to him, “It is APGA, which has regrettably converted into a department of Peoples Democratic Party, that is on the last leg, for there is a limit to deception.
“We sincerely believe that Owelle Rochas Okorocha’s move to APC has taken Ndigbo into the mainstream of national politics, especially with the disintegration of PDP. As a major ethnic
nationality, foremost player and second in population to indigenous people in 27 states of the federation.
“It will be a paradox for Ndigbo to remain in the periphery, as is the case today, where we lost the four prime protocol political offices – president, vice president, senate president and speaker.”
Okechuwu said, “Today Ndigbo are strongly gunning for president or vice president, not deputy senate president or deputy speaker, so Owelle Rochas Okorocha made a perfect choice by joining APC.”. The APC spokesperson insisted.
