Wike Suspends 12 Rivers LGAs Chairmen
Featured, Latest Headlines, News Across Nigeria, News From The State Thursday, April 18th, 2019(AFRICAN EXAMINER) – Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has suspended 12 local government chairmen over allegation on failure to attend state official functions.
The suspension was announced in a statement signed by Wike’s Special Assistant on Electronic Media, Mr. Simeon Nwakaudu.
Those affected according to the statement were: Chairmen of Okrika, Emohua, Abua/Odual, Degema, Khana, Gokana, Ahoada East, Ikwerre, Eleme, Andoni, Omuma and Ogu/Bolo local government areas.
“The suspended Council Chairmen are Philemon Kingolo, Okrika LGA; Tom Aliezi, Emohua; Daniel E.O. Daniel, Abua/Odual; Tony Phimoore, Degema; and Lahteh Loolo, Khana.
Also affected were: Paul Kobani, Gokana; Ben Eke, Ahoada East; Samuel Nwanosike, Ikwerre; Philip Okparaji, Eleme; Paul L. Paul, Andoni; Christian Nwaiwu, Omuma; and Erasmus Victor, Ogu/Bolo.
The suspension the statement affirmed was with immediate effect.
Following the action, Governor Wike has informed the Rivers State House of Assembly about the suspension of the LGAs heads
The Governor in a letter to the Speaker of the House of Assembly was titled, ‘Notice of Suspension of the Chairmen of 12 local government council chairmen,’ explained that the decision was premised on Section 64 (3) of the Rivers State Local Government Law No. 5 of 2018.
