(AFRICAN EXAMINER) – Wife Of Ex- Head Of State, Mrs. Ironsi is dead.
She died Monday 23rd August 2021 at the age of 97.
Mrs. Aguiyi-Ironsi who would have been 98 years on 21st November, died when her family members and all well- wishers were preparing for her birthday bash.
Fondly called “Ironside”, her husband was the Head of State and Supreme Commander of the National Military Government between January and July 1966.
He was overthrown and assassinated alongside Lt. col. Adekunle Fajuyi, (Governnor of Western Region) in the 1966 Nigerian counter-coup.
