US Poll: Trump Rivals, Cruz, Kasich Gang Up To Win Republican Ticket
Featured, Latest Headlines, U.S./Canada, World News Monday, April 25th, 2016Republican US Presidential hopeful, Donald Trump’s two party’s rivals – Ted Cruz and John Kasich have announced they will co-ordinate strategies against him.
One of the highpoints of the horse trading is that Cruz is billed to reduce campaign in the Oregon and New Mexico primaries obviously to help Kasich. Again, Kasich is expected to give Cruz a “clear path” in Indiana.
In a swift reaction to the plot against him, Trump attacked his rivals, alleging they were desperate and “mathematically dead”.
Already, the Muliti-billionaire is in a clear lead of delegates, but given the emerging permutations, he might fall short of the needed 1,237 nomiation to emerge the winner.
Mr. Trump has 845 delegates, as against Cruz and Kasich with 559 and 148 respectively.
Mr. Cruz’s Campaign Manager, Jeff Roe accused that having Trump at the top of the ticket in November would be a sure disaster for Republicans, adding that not only would he be defeated by the Democratic Presidential hopeful, Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders, but would also set the party back a generation.
Similarly, Mr. Kasich’s strategist, in a statement published on the Team Kasich website stated; “Our goal is to have an open convention in Cleveland, where we are confident a candidate capable of uniting the party and winning in November will emerge as the nominee.”
If Trump does not reach the target, the nomination poll will enter a contested convention – this allows different nominees to engage in negotiations among party figures.
