US Consul General, Otudeko, Dangote, Others To Attend Oyo Economic Summit

The American Consul General in Nigeria, Jeffrey Hawkins, Chairman of Honeywell Group, Oba Otudeko and President, Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, are some of the participants expected at the Oyo State Economic Summit which hold on April 14 and 15, 2014 in Ibadan.

In a release issued by the State Commissioner of Trade and Industries, Princes Oyefunke Oworu, these and many other discussants would be discussing the future of the economy of Oyo State at a summit expected to have the crème de la crème of the corporate world.

According to the release, the summit, which will take place in Ibadan, will brainstorm on the past, present and the input of government and the private sector that will effectively change the course of the economic situation in Oyo State.

Other participants expected at the summit are the Chairman and CEO of Phillips Consulting and the National Economic Summit Group, Mr. Foluso Phillips and other corporate chieftains.

The summit, according to the commissioner, would be declared open by the Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, who would speak on an overview of the state’s economic landscape, as well as the potentials and challenges in that regard.

The session on the state as a key catalyst of growth in the Nigerian economy would be handled by Mr. Phillips, while Oba Otudeko will speak on a topic entitled: Towards an innovative, profitable and sustainable industrial growth in Oyo State which will have as discussants the GMD of Odu’a Investment, Mr. A. K. Jimoh, CEO Omatek Computers, Mrs. Florence Seriki, Executive Director, First Bank, Mr. U. K. Eke, DG, Standards Organization of Nigeria, Dr, Joseph Odumodu, Mr. Joseph Tegbe of the KPMG and Mr. Oye Hassan-Odukale, Managing Director of Leadway Assurance.

According to the commissioner, the keynote address after the plenary entitled Driving positive change and creating an enabling environment for growth in Oyo State: Key lessons from South Africa, would be addressed by the South African Consul General, Ambassador Mokgethi Samuel Monaisa.

The agricultural plenary, said the release, would have Alhaji Dangote speak on Agriculture and the agro-allied industry as a strategy for socio-economic development of Oyo State and it will be discussed by the DG, IITA, Dr. Nteranya Sanginga, CEO Nigeria Export Promotion Council, Mr. segun Awolowo, MD and Nigeria Export Processing Zone Agency, Mr. Gbenga Kuye.

The finance plenary will have the Managing Director of Bank of Industry, Ms. Evelyn Oputu speak on Financing Investment and Industrialization of the state, while Mr. Bismark Rewane, MD Financial Derivatives Company, Mr. Yinka Sanni, MD Stanbic IBTC and Mr. Bayo Olugbemi of First Registrars would be the discussants.
