US Ambassador Attacked In South Korea
Latest Headlines, World News Wednesday, March 4th, 2015A United States (US) Ambassador to South Korea, Mark Lippert’s face has been slashed by a militant Korean nationalist at a breakfast meeting in Seoul.
Although, Ambassador Lippert, was not seriously hurt, yet received cut on his left hand, with blood splashing over the breakfast table.
The attacker was however overpowered by the security officers – who pinned him down with a shoe on his neck, hence arrested.
Report by the North’s Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said the North Korea has described the onslaught as a “just punishment for US warmongers”.
Despite being named as the “Kim Ki-jong”, the South Korean police are in the process of obtaining warrants to search the Militant’s home, so as to establish whether he has close ties with the North Korea.
The diplomat who had received hospital treatment has however confirmed his sound state of health as he stated in a letter (he) “Doing well and in great spirits… Will be back ASAP to advance US-ROK (Republic of Korea)…”
In the meantime, the US President Barack Obama has called on Lippert and wished him speedy recovery.
