UPDATE: CCT Chairman Reacts to Viral Assault Video, Says I Was Rather Assaulted + Video
African News, Featured, Latest Headlines, News, News Across Nigeria, News From The State Tuesday, March 30th, 2021(AFRICAN EXAMINER) – The chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal, Mr Danladi Umar has reacted to the viral video on the social media, where he was captured assaulting a security guard at a shopping complex in Abuja.
In his reaction, Mr Danladi, however, denied attacking the guard but stated that he was the one at the receiving end of the assault, though, this is in contrary to what was contained in the video.
A statement from the spokesperson of the Code of Conduct Tribunal explained that: “Unfortunately, yesterday’s (Monday) altercations started over a parking spot, which the chairman met vacant, and it was directly opposite a shop where he wanted to make a purchase and to fix his phone when the young security guard sighted him and ordered that the chairman should not park his car in that particular empty space.
“Though the chairman didn’t identify himself, because, to him, it was needless, and it was a place he visited often, the boy was rude in his approach and threatened to deal with the chairman if he refused to leave the scene.”
The statement added that Mr Danladi was assaulted by some miscreants whom he said ordered the closure of the gate before the arrival of police team from Maitama police station.
However, the incident as captured by the video was sharply different from the chairman’s narration. In the video as reviewed by our reporter, Mr Danladi and another person who seems to be with him slapped and kicked the security guard aggressively.
