Despite efforts by governments at all tiers and security agencies to stop attacks by unknown gunmen in the hinterlands of the Plateau State, this time around, a family of five was killed when gunmen attacked Heipang District of Barkin Ladi local government of Plateau State.
African Examiner gathered that the affected family was sleeping when the gunmen struck at about 12.30 am Wednesday.
According to the residents of the community, the gunmen came in their numbers and were armed with guns and machetes; they shot sporadically to scare residents.
Abel Bok told African Examiner that, “We were woken up by gun shots, but we were afraid to come out because the gun shots were sporadic. We heard members of the family shouting and calling for help but we were afraid to come out.
Adding that, “When we later came out when the gunmen had left, we now discovered they have killed all these people”.
Confirming the incident, Interim Administrator of Barkin Ladi local government, Habila Dung said five members of a family were killed.
Efforts to get the Spokesman of the Special Task force (STF), Captain Salisu Mustapha proved abortive as he could not be reached through his phone at the time of filing this report.
