Unknown Gunmen Kill 2 Police Officers In Enugu
Latest Headlines, News Across Nigeria, News From The State Sunday, July 24th, 2016ENUGU NIGERIA, (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – Tension has enveloped Enugu metropolis and environs, following the killing of two policemen attached to the state Command by yet to be identified gunmen.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of police in charge of the state, Emmanuel Ojukwu has vowed to apprehend perpetrators of the barbaric act.
Ebere Amarizu, the Command’s spokesman, who disclosed this to African Examiner in Enugu over the weekend, said the victims are, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Mr. Otunji Philip and a sergeant.
He said the police “have commenced trail of the suspects.” adding that they were shot dead at New Haven area of Enugu.
Amarizu, stated that “yet to be identified gun men shot directly on the policemen, which resulted to the instant death of an Assistant Superintendent of Police, Otunji Philip and later the death of one sergeant, Manne Wilson.”
“The State commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Ojukwu, while commiserating with the families of the deceased officers has equally expressed displeasure on the incident.
“Attacking police means attacking peace; the machinery is already in place to unmask those behind the dastardly act.
“The state command will not relent in the bid to ensure the safety and security of the citizenry.”
Our Correspondent also learnt that one policemen luckily escaped from the scene of the attack.
