The University of Jos (UNIJOS) needs over N5 billion to erect its Faculties of Veterinary Medicine, Engineering and Agriculture.
Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Hayward Mafuyai made this known while briefing journalists at the Senate Chambers of the ivory tower.
“The University of Jos is poised to establish and equip the new programmes to the best international standards.
“It is envisaged that these programmes will deliver on much needed manpower for the transformation of the economy”, stated Professor Mafuyai.
The Vice Chancellor maintained that, the new faculties were to run programmes that would contribute meaningfully to Nigeria’s quest for accelerated development and realization of vision 20-2020 agenda.
He stressed that, the programmes would require a lot of financial and material supports to meet up with the requirements of the National Universities Commission (NUC) and various professional bodies in the country.
Mafuyai further indicated that the University’s Governing Council in conjunction with the Advancement Support Board and UNIJOS Alumni Association would raise funds for the projects.
He hinted that the target of the institution was to admit its first set of students in the emerging faculties in the coming academic session.
