UNGA 76: Huge Protests Against Buhari In New York To Hold Friday
African News, Featured, Latest Headlines, News, News Across Nigeria, News From The State Wednesday, September 22nd, 2021(AFRICAN EXAMINER) – As President Mohammadu Buhari of Nigeria prepares to address the ongoing United Nations General Assembly, there are barrage of protests planned to embarrass him at the global event.
African Examiner gathered that various organizations, dissidents, activists, self-determination groups have mobilised Nigerians in the US to troop out to demonstrate against the president over insecurity, banditry, killings, kidnapping of students in various parts of Nigeria.
It was also gathered that the protests are timed to coincide with President Buhari’s speech at the UN on Friday.
A protester expressed excitement that the protest would be so huge and capable of drawing the attention of the world to the grave injustices perpetrated by the Nigerian government.
Recall on Monday at the annual United Nations General Assembly meeting, the “protest pens” were full, and the protesters brought a long list of grievances to the Nigerian House in Manhattan.
So far, IPOB, Egbe Oduduwa, NINAS, Ilana Omo Oodua, NAD, Take it back movement, MPF and Nigeria Conscience groups have all protested since President Buhari arrived in New York.
They waved IPOB, Oduduwa flags and other placards at scattered rallies this week at the UN and Nigeria consulate with slogans such as “Get out Buhari. Government of hunger and unemployment,” “200 thousand deaths” to express their grievances.
President Buhari is expected to address the United Nations general assembly on Friday.
