Unemployment: Embrace FG Numerous Intervention Programmes, Labour Minister Advised Youths
Featured, Latest Headlines, News Across Nigeria Monday, March 29th, 2021(AFRICAN EXAMINER) – Nigeria’s Federal government has advised the teeming unemployed youths in the country to take advantage of various intervention programmes initiated by the president Muhammadu Buhari’s led administration
It said since the government came onboard it has through the National Directorate of Employment NDE, engaged huge number of youths in both skilled and unskilled jobs
Minster of State for labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), who stated this weekend at the NDE special day at the 32nd Enugu international Trade Fair in Enugu, said the Agency, under president Muhammadu Buhari led government has continued to carry out it’s statutory mandate of designing and implementing programmes that will combat mass unemployment among the citizens.
Represented by the Acting Director- General of the Directorate, Abubakar Nuhu Fikpo, the Minister added that NDE, has continued to play a key role in the area of unemployment reduction, Skills aquisition promotion, improving the financial situation in the country, poverty reduction as well as entrepreneurship development
According to him, the recent Federal Government Special Public Works (SPW) programme, which was designed to create 774,000 jobs across the nation, was also aimed at touching the lives of unemployed citizens of Nigeria
The Minster who is also Chairman of NDE Board, informed unemployed Nigerians to always embrace the numerous federal government intervention programmes via the state offices across the 36 states in the country, as well as it’s Zonal offices
President of Enugu Chamber of Commerce Industry Mines and agriculture, Sir Emeka Nwandu, who spoke through the Ist Deputy President, Barr. Pascal Nduagwuike, applauded NDE for its consistency in attending the Enugu international trade Fair since inception, describing both organizations as partners in progress
