Uzoigwe, is still suffering from the shock, devastation, and embarrassment of his life, following the cancellation of their marriage by his wife to be, Miss Ifunanya Igwebuike, on their wedding day on Saturday.

The bride, a final year student of the Federal Polytechnic Oko, Anambra state, whom the groom, had been bankrolling her education right from 1st year, jilted him simply because the man is a school drop out.

Invited guests who had arrived Saint Patrick Catholic Church, Umuchu in Aguata council Area of Anambra State were not left out of the shock when the bride refused to show up to tie the knot after the guest waited several hours in the church.

African Examiner gathered that Ifunnaya, called- off the wedding arrangements which had been concluded by both families, without informing any body, including any of her own family members, until the wedding day.

After keeping Uzoigwe, his family members, and guest waiting for several hours at the church, she sent a text message to the Parish Priest, Rev. Father Lawrence Maduagwu, who was to be part of the officiating ministers of the aborted wedding, intimating him that she was no longer interested and requested him to cancel the wedding.

Ifunanya based her decision not to get into the marriage on the ground that she was a graduate unlike Uzoigwe, whom she claimed was a school dropout.

However, when the news was broken by the priest, there was uproar in the church, as guests started trooping out of the church shuddering at what happened.

Recounting his ordeal, to newsmen, the devastated groom, said that he proposed marriage to Ifunanya, and she accepted, on condition that he would train her in an institution of higher learning, which he agreed.

According to Uzoigwe, after she secured admission, he took up the responsibility of financing her education upon an agreement that they would wed during her final year.

He said he had earlier paid her bride price, adding that Ifunnanya was part of the whole wedding plan.

Confused looking Uzoigwe, further disclosed that he even gave the bride’s parents N160,000 to prepare for the wedding ceremony, aside other arrangements and expenses incurred for the aborted reception.

The groom said the Ifunannya, did not inform him about her decision to back out of the wedding until he got to the church only for the priest to announce to him and his guests about the cancellation of the wedding.

Hear him: “If she had informed me, I would not have made arrangements. We had already cooked food and bought drinks for the wedding,” he lamented.

Uzoigwe, said when he contacted the parents of the lady, they told him that they cannot force their daughter to marry any body.

They however, asked him to come and take back the money he gave them to prepare for the wedding.

The unfortunate groom disclosed that he was still shocked about what happened because he never had any quarrel with Ifunanya before the fateful day.

He added that he made sure she was comfortable by making money available to her while in school, wondering why the lady could pay him back in such a wicked manner.
