Tukur: PDP Will Come Out Stronger For 2015 –Gov. Orji
Latest Headlines Friday, January 17th, 2014Despite the seeming crisis in the People’s Democratic Party, Governor Theodore Orji of Abia state says the party will get stronger soon as serious reengineering of its internal democracy is going on.
The governor stated this while fielding questions from newsmen in Umuahia on his return to the state after attending series of meetings of the party in Abuja.
He maintained that most people who disengaged from the party will come back after the transformation that is going on in the PDP.
Chief Orji said that gang ups against the party by some influential Nigerians will not work, adding that no amount of gang up or distractions will deter president Goodluck Jonathan from forging ahead, pointing out that the president is focused.
On the resignation of the National chairman of the PDP, Bamanga Tukur, the governor said that it is a good sign that the internal democracy of the party is working.
He said that it is rare for Africans to resign their positions and maintained that for the national chairman of the party to have the courage to resign is worth commending.
The Abia state chief executive described the feat as a new innovation for the party and implored other parties in the country to learn from the example.
He also commented on the removal of the former chief of Army staff, lieutenant General Azubuike Ihejirika, an indigene of Abia state by the President saying that it was not on account of incompetence.
According to him, the President has the prerogative to choose whoever he wants in the best interest of the country and our Son, Ihejirika was diligent through out his service, we are proud of him.
