Troops Raid kidnappers’ Camps In Imo, Kill Two Gang Leaders

OWERRI NIGERIA (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – Kidnappers camps, belonging to two deadly cult groups, namely, “De-Well” and “De-Gbam”, situated in a forest at Umoubi and Umudike communities, both in Ohaji Egbema Council Area of Imo State have been raided and cleared by troops, just as two leaders of the gang were killed during the operation.
African Examiner gathered that the hoodlums have been terrorising Owerri, the Imo state capital, and environs for quite a long time
The Troops are Army personnel from the 34 Field Artillery Brigade, Owerri, who are involved in field training exercise of Operation CROCODILE SMILE.
A statement from by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman weekend, said during the raids of the two camps, one Chigozie (aka “Chi boy”), a notorious kingpin of one of the cult groups, lost his life, while another member was later discovered dead in the forest.
It added that “Quite a number of the gang members were believed to have escaped with gunshot wounds.”
“The troops recovered quite a number of military uniforms and mobile telephones and other household items before destroying the camps to prevent the cultists regrouping in the area.
Usman, disclosed that the operatives have continued to comb the general area for other members of the kidnapping syndicate,”
He vowed that the Troop will not rest on its oars until the hoodlums are flushed out of their various hideouts in the state.
