Tragedy In Ebonyi as Couple, 3 Others Killed In Auto Crash

Tragedy struck Wednesday afternoon at the busy Berger junction, along the Ishiagu-Afikpo road, in Ebonyi state, when a couple and three others lost their lives in a ghastly auto crash.

African Examiner reports that Ishiagu, is the community of the secretary to the government of the federation, (SGF), Chief Anyim Pius Anyim.

While the couple died instantly, the three others sustained minor injuries.

The couple, identified as Mr. and Mrs Victor Idam, met their untimely death when their Nissan Primera car with registration number UML 250 AA had a head-on collusion with a yellow-coloured Mack Trailer with registration No. APP 215 XP.

According to an eyewitness who spoke to newsmen on condition of anonymity, the crash was caused by over-speeding of the trailer driver.

The source also attributed the crash to the carelessness of the driver of the trailer, because it happened when the conductor of the trailer was trying to take over from his driver while the vehicle was still in motion.

The source therefore, advised road users to desist from over-speeding while plying the smooth-surfaced Ishiagu/Afikpo road.
