Three Youths Killed, Scores Wounded in Jos Police Shoot-Out

The Plateau Special Task Force (STF) saddled with the responsibility of maintaining peace in the State has been accused of killing three youths and injured several others, at a social function in Bukuru Low Cost, in Jos South Local Government area of the State.

African Examiner gathered that, the incident occurred last night, at Joenice Bar at Nyango area of the council.

It was learnt that argument ensued at the venue of the function, which prompted the owner of the Bar to alert members of the STF around the locality.

An eyewitness told African Examiner that immediately the STF members got to the scene, they started shooting at the youths, which led to the killing of three and scores sustaining injuries, but now receiving treatment in the hospital.

“When the soldiers got to the venue they just opened fire on us, I was lucky to have escaped unharmed, another source revealed to AE.

Meanwhile, Timshak Miri, one of the victim’s father (Nantel Miri) who burst into tears, said he could not believe the unfortunate incident that has befallen his son, lamenting that how armed men could opened fire on innocent teenagers. He however managed to confirm that the remains of Timshak has been deposited to the Jos University Teaching Hospital mortuary.

He appealed to STF Commander to ensure the soldiers who were responsible for the killing should be brought to book.

Meanwhile, a sibling of the deceased Fecit, has called on the relevant authorities to look into the matter and ensure justice is done.

The state Police Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abuh Emmauel said, “We have not received an official report from the Divisional Police Officer in Bukuru, but promised the Command would investigate the matter when formally informed.
