Three youngsters remanded at Kirikiri Prison for Armed Robbery

Three suspects has been remanded to Kirikiri Prison custody pending the legal advice of the Director of Public Prosecution, DPP, by an Ikeja Magistrate Court, over alleged armed robbery.
The suspects, whose names are Joshua Muha 20, Tope Oladunjoye 23 and Emanuel Egbelo 19, residents of 42, Agoro street, Ajangbadi; 24, Agoro Street, Ilogbo road, Ajangbadi respectively, are facing a three count charge bordering on conspiracy, armed robbery and unlawful possession of fire arms, preferred against them by the police.
The police prosecutor, Sergeant Chinalu Uwadione, said that the defendants and others at large conspired together on October 26 2013, to commit the alleged crime.
He told the court that the offence was committed at about 3:30pm at 16 Ifelodun Close, Nepa Quarters Abule- Era in Ijanikin area of Lagos.
Uwadione, said that the defendant were armed with one locally made double barrel pistol and other dangerous weapons with which they used to rob one Monsurat Sodiq’s handbag valued at N25,000.
The other items collected from the victim includes: one Samsung phone valued at N4,000, a cash sum of N9,000.
The prosecutor also alleged that the defendants unlawfully had in their possession one locally made barrel pistol without license issued to them by the Inspector General of Police.
According to the prosecutor, the offence committed is contrary to section 5 (b) and punishable under section 5 (2) (a) of the Robbery and firearms (Special Provision) Act, Cap 389, vol XXX ii laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2003 as amended.
It’s also contrary to section 1 (2) (a) (b) 4 and punishable under section 28 (1) (b) (1) of the laws of the Federation as amended.
The plea of the defendants was not taken as the Magistrate, Miss A. Akinde ordered that they should be remanded in prison.
She further adjourned the matter to December 16,2013, for mention.
