Terrorist Watch List: #PantamiResign Trends on Social Media

(AFRICAN EXAAMINER) – The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, has come under attack on social media over his alleged link with terrorist groups, Taliban and Al-Qaeda.

The African Examiner reports that a viral video which was recorded years ago saw the minister engaging the late Boko Haram leader, Mohammed Yusuf, in a public debate resurfaced online.

In the viral video recorded many years ago which was later reportedly confirmed by the minister’s lawyer, Michael Numa, the minister was seen engaging the late Boko Haram leader, Mohammed Yusuf, in a public debate.

Reacting to this development, some Nigerians took to their social media account saying Pantami cannot be trusted with the data of Nigerians, especially with the ongoing National Identification Number and Subscriber Identity Module integration exercise under his watch. They called for his resignation.

Below is Pantami’s controversial preaching:

The African Examiner captures some of their thoughts below:

@Oyediji Olukunmi Sunday: “writes someone that says he is happy when an unbelievers is killed is a terrorist. this is an evidence that buhari and his government are the creator of the evil disturbing the peace of the country because of Islamic agenda.”

@Nwa South writes: “I don’t know how you view education but there’s no way you can tell me that Isa pantami is an educated man. For a man to feel so comfortable by saying. WE ARE ALL HAPPY WHENEVER UNBELIEVERS ARE BEING KILLED. Such words can only come out from someone with evil mind. #PantamiResign.”

@Akpiche Jude Ogheneovie writes: “A wise man once said: If u want to know the first man that slept with ur mother before your father marry her join Nigeria politics. They wil go all out to dig ur past no matter wat it will cost. Oga minister how far… Should we still go for sim card linking again….”

@Galadima Romeo writes: “The past haunted Alhaji salisu buhari out of office. The past haunted mrs kemi adeosun out of office. The past is haunting someone now and the outcome doesnt need a soothsayer to foretell because this is not the first nor the last.”

@Mohammed Suleiman writes: “He’s An Islamic Scholar, even Pastors have held Public offices and no one opposed. He’s a good and intelligent man.”

@Saleh Abubakar Jnr writes: “Criminals in action. This is the handy work of bokoharam sponsors they twisted the whole saga to bring confusion, they are not too friendly with his policies cause he is cutting them off from.the network.”

@Samson Joseph writes: “I am so sure he won’t resign, no amount of pressure will make him resign, the truth is he won’t even feel any online pressure because he’s been shielded by a government that is been headed by a deaf and dump president.”

Sir. Ariyo-Dare Atoye@AriyoAristotle writes: “From the revelations in the media, Minister Pantami is a security and a threat to National Security. If Gen. Buhari is unwilling to sack him; we owe Nigeria a duty to make all our foreign, regional & development partners excommunicate or avoid Isa Ali Pantami. #PantamiResign.”

@MOMPERE55 writes: “This Pantami issue is far more serious than we treat it to be. I had this nightmare last night where Boko Haram had the data and location details of every single Nigerian, including the president. Pantami has to resign and answer the law. We’re in danger!! #PantamiResign,”

@Idris Ibrahim: “He was seen in a Public debate with the then Leader of the Boko Haram movement to convince him and his followers to discontinue their negative believe on western education and ideology, I see no reason why that video has linked him to Terrorist beside he was not the only Shiek to debate against their ideology. What kind of blackmail is this? Just because the man is working tirelessly to position this country toward technological development that is why all this is happening.”

@Richard Akindele writes: “Who will go to cell now……you better resign now so that proper investigation can be conducted on you. You remembered your last statement of NIN that…if Nigeria doesn’t do their NIN, they will go to jail.Wicked leaders everywhere especially this administration…. What has Nigeria done for them to deserve this nepotism and wicked leaders?”
