The Nigeria Military has alerted that the next few days will be crucial to Op LAFIYA DOLE as well as to the country.
The Chief of Army Staff Lt. Col Tukur Buratai gave the prompt Friday in a statement issued by the acting Army Spokesman, Col. Sani Usman.
Gen. Buratai admitted that Nigeria’s sovereignty as a nation was threatened, establishing that the Nigerian Army and the military as the symbol of nationhood “is being challenged”.
“Our ability to stand and defeat the Boko Haram terrorists in the next few weeks will determine the future of our country. We cannot afford to lose the fight. We are better trained and better equipped. The whole nation is behind us. Mr President is with us”, Buratai stressed.
The Army Chief however called on the troops to remain steadfast in the noble cause, insisting that they should be courageous.
Buratai restated, “We must degrade and defeat the terrorists. This job must be done. We must make our country men and women proud”.
In a related development, the remains of Late Fight Lieutenant Ebitimi Owei was laid to rest Friday at the National Military Cemetery, Abuja.
Flight Lieutenant Owei who was deployed to combat terrorism in the ongoing operation Lafiya Dole in the North East paid the supreme sacrifice for the peace of the Nation last Saturday, October 10, on the ill-fated Nigerian Air Force F-7 Fighter Jet that crashed in Adamawa, North East.
