It’s Not True – Gov. Umahi
Despite denial by the State Governor David Umahi, there is tension in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital and its environs, over the rumours that the 47 Boko Haram prisoners recently evacuated from Ekwulobia Prison in Anambra State have been relocated to the Abakaliki Prison.
The State Governor Saturday dismissed the rumour, saying he was not aware of such development.
He said “there is even no plan in sight for the deposition of the dreaded suspects in Ebonyi State.
According to him “I received a text message shortly after I returned to Abakaliki from my trip to Israel that Boko Haram suspects previously relocated to Ekwulobia Prison in Anambra State have been relocated to Abakaliki Prison.
“Immediately I got the text message, I made some calls, and I can tell you authoritatively that Boko Haram suspects were not relocated to Abakaliki and there are no plans for such relocation.
“Ebonyi State is not yet ripe to accommodate such high caliber of prison inmates,” he clarified.
Meanwhile, residents of the state, especially Abakaliki, owing to the speculation, now go to bed with one eyes open.
