Temper Anger With Patriotism, Jonathan Begs ASUU

President Goodluck Jonathan has called on the striking lectures, under the auspices of of the Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU) to suspend their four month old strike in the best of interests of the students and the nation’s educational system.
Speaking in Ado-ekiti at the first convocation ceremony of the Afe Babalola University, the president appealed to all patriotic Nigerians to prevail on ASUU to call off their strike, even as he vowed to work with them to address the decay in the educational sector.
The president who was the guest of honour at the convocation ceremony, explained to ASUU that most of the sectors of economy also needs attention adding that “’If we all decide to embark on a long strike definitely we will all ground the nation.”
Hear him “”I urge every patriotic Nigerian to plead with ASUU to suspend their strike action and resume class. If you are talking to government and government is not listening, or government is not cooperating with you, that is a different thing entirely.
”I promise to work with all Nigerians, what ever inadequacies we have with education, we are seriously working towards solving it, ASUU should temper their anger with patriotism. Long strike will definitely ground our educational sector.”
Highpoints of the event was the unveiling of the engineering building, which was named and dedicated to the president.
