Teenager Docked in Lagos in Xmas Day Stealing

19 year old Jamiu Aliyu was on Friday docked before a Lagos Magistrate Court sitting in Ikeja, for stealing household appliance totalling N70,000 at 13,Toyin street, Ikeja Lagos on Christmas day.

The teenager on the 25th December, 2013 steal an air conditioner system worth N50,00 and a pumping machine worth N20,000, both belonging to one Mr. Festus Otu.

According to prosecutor Insp. Samson Ekikere, the offence is contrary to section 409 and 285, N0 11, Vol. 44 laws of Lagos state 2011.

Defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge against him.

Magistrate Oshodi Makanju granted him bail in the sum of N50,000 and adjourned the matter to the 16th of January, 2014.

Meanwhile, 25-year-old Sokunbi Akeem was also on Friday arraigned before Magistrate Oshodi Makanju for stealing a vehicle and also removing its parts.

Sokunbi was alleged to steal a Volkswagen bus with registration number XF832EKY, Lagos commercial colour valued at N460,000 belonging to one Gabriel Opoola, and thereafter removed the vehicle’s gear and engine.

Prosecutor Samson Ekikere said the alleged offence is punishable under section 348, 285, 409 Vol 44, criminal law of Lagos 2011.  Sokunbi pleaded not guilty to the three count charge against him.  He was granted bail in the sum of N100,000, matter adjourned to 24th January, 2014.
