Featured, Latest Headlines Saturday, May 30th, 2015By Mustapha Abdul Salaam – No fewer than five persons were killed Saturday morning, in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, during a deadly attack by the suspected Boko Haram terrorists.
The weekend attack which occurred barely 24 hours after the inauguration of new President Muhammadu Buhari, involved heavy shooting by the insurgents who attempted to invade the State’s capital around 12.50 am, after moving from the Ajilari Cross and Bintu Sugar areas of the ancient city.
The level of casualties on the Military side is yet be ascertained, as the soldiers engaged the militants and succeeded in checking from advancing further.
No official confirmation yet on the fresh attack and no one has claimed responsibility for it.
It would be recalled President Buhari noted Friday during his inaugural speech that progress has been made in recent weeks by the security forces, but said victory could not be achieved with the Command and Control Centre in Abuja, hence the resolve of his administration to relocate it to Maiduguri and would remain until Boko Haram was completely subdued.
