STRANGE: Grandson Hacks 100-year Old Grandfather To Death In Imo

IMO, NIGERIA (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – Police authorities in Imo State, South- East Nigeria have confirmed the arrest of a 22-year-old grandson, Chukwuebuka Umunna, for allegedly hacking his grandfather, Umunna Anusiem, who is over 100 years old to death.
The incident, which occurred at Umuoke Otulu Ahiara Autonomous community in Ahiazu Mbaise local government area of the State, has thrown the family into pains and confusion.
The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Andrew Enwerem, confirmed the incident which took place on June 11, to newsmen weekend in Owerri, the Imo State capital.
He said, “This is a murder case and the police are still investigating the matter.
“The suspect will be charged to court as soon as the investigation is concluded”.
It was gathered that the suspect murdered the centenarian, because he reprimanded and advised him to stop smoking Indian hemp.
Reacting to the incident, father of the suspect and second son of the deceased, Mr. Umunna Julian, said his son dropped out of secondary school and subsequent efforts made by the family for him to acquire vocational skills or learn a trade did not yield any positive result .
He added: “Chukwuebuka has been uncontrollable and stubborn.
“He smokes Indian hemp openly and bullies anybody who cautions him, he was quarrelling with my father when I was going to work that morning.
“I was shocked to hear a few hours later that he had killed my father with a machete.
“It was a very sad incident because such a thing had never happened in this entire village.”
