Yobo Making Case For Super Eagles Recall. By Demola Aluko

Out of favour Super Eagles captain Joseph Yobo looks set to stage a come-back to the national team following an impressive outing on his debut at Norwich City as the Canaries held high-scoring Manchester City to a goalless draw at Carrow Road on Saturday.

Norwich manager Chris Hughton gave the former Everton defender a huge task on his debut, pairing him with Sebastian Bassong in a game that was to be the club’s biggest challenge so far in the season.

However, Yobo, who joined from Turkish side Fenerbahce on transfer deadline day did not disappoint as he put up a fantastic performance through out the encounter.

The 33 year old lost his national team place since the arrival of Chelsea’s Kenneth Omeruo in the Nigerian team before the 21013 African Cup of Nations in South Africa.

Yobo, who captained the Super Eagles to their third AFCON success recently criticised the treatment he received from the Nigerian technical crew, saying he felt disrespected for being excluded from the national team without his knowledge.

Yobo has constantly expressed willingness to feature for Nigeria at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil and hopefully, his return to the Barclays Premier League could be a stepping stone.
