Super Eagles Move Up Two Steps In FIFA Ranking

Nigeria have moved up two places in the latest FIFA ranking after earning 620 points to jump to 45th from their previous 47th in the world.
The African champions similarly jumped two steps forward in the African ranking to occupy sixth position.
With Eagles goalless draw with South America giants, Mexico in Atlanta, USA last month, Nigeria moved into the 45th position globally as against the 47th of the previous month’s ranking by the world soccer body.
In Africa, the Elephants of Ivory Coast retained their number one position, while Egypt Algeria are 2nd and 3rd respectively. The Black Stars of Ghana are 4th, while 2013 Africa Nations Cup surprise team Cape Verde occupy the 5th spot.
Globally, European countries occupy the top three places on the FIFA/Coca-Cola World Ranking after Portugal climbed third behind leaders Spain and Germany.
They are followed by four South American sides in Colombia, (4th), Uruguay (5th,) and Super Eagles Group opponents at Brazil 2014, Argentina who came down three places to occupy the sixth position.
World Cup hosts, Brazil moved up three places to share the spot with Argentina. Greece returned to the top ten for the first time since October 2012, while Scotland moved up 15 places to the 22nd position in the world.
