Libya Are New Africa (CHAN) Champions. Beat Ghana On Penalties
- Updated: February 2, 2014
Libya claimed their first ever major continental senior title with a 4-3 penalty shoot-out win over Ghana to win this year’s African Nations Championship in Cape Town, South Africa.
Ghana’s Joshua Tijani missed a sudden death spot-kick that crowned Libya as winners this year.
Black Stars’ Abdul Mohamed had the best chance to win the match in extra-time but put his shot wide.
It would be recalled that Ghana won the penalty shoot-out when the two countries met in the 1982 Africa Cup of Nations final after the teams finished level at 1-1 after extra time.
