Former Super Eagles striker, Yakubu Aiyegbeni has joined Al Rayyan of Qatar from Chinese club Guangzhou R&F in a one-and-a-half year contract.
Yakubu, wh joined Guangzhou R&F in June 2012, after playing for Portsmouth, Middlesbrough, Everton, Leicester City and Blackburn Rovers said he would prove that all the efforts of the Qatari team to sign him was worth it.
“I like the challenge that has been put in front of me and hopefully I can make significant contributions that will drive this club forward.” Yakubu said.
The 31 year old is the second Nigerian after Kalu Uche [who joined El Jaish] from the 2010 World Cup squad to move to Qatar in recent months.
The striker scored 25 goals in 45 appearances for the Chinese Super League side.
