Bayern Win Bundesliga In Record Breaking Time

Bayern Munich won the Bundesliga title in record-breaking time with a 3-1 win over Hertha Berlin at the Olympic Stadium, and are well on course to smash the German points record.

With seven games remaining, Bayern could end up with 98 points if they win every game, with the record standing at 91 points from last term.

The German giants have also beaten their record from last season, where they won the salad bowl with six games left.

Goals from Toni Kroos, Mario Gotze and substitute Franck Ribery secured the victory, with Borussia Dortmund x-x with Schalke.

Manchester United target Kroos put Bayern ahead on six minutes, slotting home at the far post to put the visitors on their way.

They doubled the lead just eight minutes later, with Mario Gotze heading in from eight yards from Bastian Schweinsteiger’s cross.

The German champions should have had another in the first-half, but Thomas Muller’s header hit the crossbar.

Hertha Berlin halved the deficit after Rafinha’s foul in the area gave the hosts a spot kick, duly converted by Adrian Ramos.

Frenchman Ribery wrapped up the title with 10 minutes remaining, chipping over the goalkeeper.

The win marks Bayern’s 23rd Bundesliga crown, and 24th German title, and Guardiola’s fourth league title after winning La Liga three times with Barcelona.

Elsewhere in Germany, nearest challengers Borussia Dortmund were held to a 0-0 draw with bitter rivals Schalke 04.

Fans of both sides arrived at the Westfalenstadion among a huge police presence, with stand-off ensuing outside the ground before kick-off.
