Arsenal Defender Sets To Join Nasri/Clichy At City
- Updated: April 25, 2014
The France international left-back has been left disappointed and angry with the Gunners’ failure to reward him with a new deal.
He is out of contract at the end of the season and – despite interest from Real Madrid, Barcelona and Galatasaray, the Frenchman wants to stay in the Premier League.
The north Londoners offered Sagna, 31, a two-year extension of his current contract, worth £75,000 – a rise of £15,000 on his current pay.
But he wants three years at £100,000, plus a signing-on fee.
City look the favourites to land the 31-year-old as he will link up again with former Arsenal team-mates and fellow France internationals Gael Clichy and Samir Nasri.
The big-spending Etihad club are ready to step in this summer with a package worth £20m over three years.
A source close to Sagna said: “He will leave the club 100 per cent – there is no way he will stay.
“He feels very heartbroken, disgusted and disrespected by the board and the offers they are making, after being so loyal to the club for so many years.
“Now his focus will be to help his team-mates and the fans by landing the FA Cup and a top four finish.”
