”We’ll Beat Kano Pillars” Chris Giwa
- Updated: February 18, 2014
The Proprietor of newly promoted Nigeria Premier League side Giwa Football Club, Chris Giwa said the target of the club is to win this
season’s league title.
Giwa made this known at a reception held in Jos for players and club officials of the club for securing promotion to the premier league.
“As we start our campaign against Kano Pillars next weekend, I can tell you that by God’s grace we will come out victorious and our
target this season is to win the league.
“Our performance in the NNL super 4 which we won clearly shows that we are truly the best team and it further confirms that our winning the league was no fluke.” Giwa said.
According to the Proprietor, Giwa FC’s promotion ticket to the Premier League is not for the club alone, but the club’s teeming
supporters and the people of Plateau State.
In his speech, the Director General, National Sports Commission, Gbenga Elegbeleye, said Giwa FC is contributing to the economic development of the country by engaging youths in positive ventures.
Elegbeleye urged the players to work to remain in the premiership, saying the Nigerian top division is a different ball game.
The Director General who was represented by secretary of the commission, Dr. Bolaji Ojooba, added that the burden of running a football club should not be left for the owner alone.
“I’m calling on well meaning persons and organisations to support the good work that this club is doing”.
