Nigeria’s representatives at this year’s CAF competitions have received the sum of one million naira each from the League Management Company (LMC) to feature in a four day Super 4 tournament that will be held at the Abuja National Stadium, starting this Friday.
League champions Kano Pillars, runners-up and Federation Cup winners Enyimba, Federation Cup beaten finalists Warri Wolves and third-placed Bayelsa United will participate at the annual tournament.
LMC board member, Shehu Dikko, who made this known said the clubs’ accounts have already been credited with the sum.
Dikko further said that the amount was to aid the pre-season preparations of the participating teams, adding that the LMC was aware of financial challenges of the clubs.
Kano Pillars and Enyimba will represent Nigeria in the lucrative CAF Champions League, while Bayelsa United and Warri Wolves will fly the country’s flag in the CAF Confederation Cup.
The LMC official, who announced free transportation to the stadium from various locations of the capital city also hinted that the organizers have decided to throw the gates open to all soccer fans as part of efforts to increase attendance.
