UTD To Sack Moyes This Week. Giggs To Set To Rule For Four Weeks
- Updated: April 21, 2014
He has been courted by Tottenham, but is understood to prefer the Old Trafford job.
Other contenders include Jurgen Klopp, Laurent Blanc and Diego Simeone as United face the ultimate humiliation of having to admit they made a huge mistake in giving Moyes the job in the first place.
Their American billionaire owners have been left shocked by the rapid decline of the team this season.
The Premier League champions have lost 11 league games and languish in seventh place in the table.
Giggs is now expected to be asked to step in as caretaker boss until the end of the season if the Glazers sack Moyes in the next few days.
The former Everton boss was hand picked by Fergie last summer following his decision to retire.
But Moyes has struggled to cope with one of the biggest jobs in world football and has looked out of his depth from the start.Everton was one poor performance too many for the Glazers.
But United have gone backwards at a rate of knots and are now guaranteed their lowest ever Premier League points total and worst finish since 1990.
Moyes signed a six-year-deal last summer worth £5m-a-season but a clause in it means United bosses won’t have to give him the full amount as compensation.
The club’s share price dipped yesterday as the New York Stock Exchange reacted to news of Moyes’ fate.
