Mourinho Ends Pellegrini’s Home Record

Manchester City suffered their first home defeat in the premier league this season after losing 0-1 at the Etihad against rivals Chelsea in what could be a decisive result in the tittle race.

Branislav Ivanovic scored the only goal of the crucial encounter with a low shot that gave Chelsea the deserved victory in the 32nd minute.

Cameroon international Smuel Eto’o, Gary Cahill and Nemanja Matic all hit the woodwork for the visitors, who dominated the first half.

Contrary to what most fans would expect, the Jose Mourinho side took control of the midfield, with Ramirez, Hazard, Matic and Ramires in charge.

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini’s decision to play defender  Martin Demichelis in midfield due to an injury to Fernandinho seemed not to be the best option as the hosts looked shaky in defense.

The biggest beneficiaries of the encounter are Arsenal. The result means the Gunners remain top with 14 matches left, two points clear of City, who are ahead of Chelsea on goal difference.

Manager Arsene Wenger, who had predicted City’s win ahead of  Monday night game due to what he called ”home advantage” will hope that his team does not slip at the top to keep their tittle hopes intact after nearly a decade.
