South East Govs, Leaders Move Against IPOB’S Sit-At-Home Order

(AFRICAN EXAMINER) – Governors and leaders of the Southeast geo-political zone of Nigeria,on Tuesday day condemned in strong terms the every Monday sit at home order by the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB, as well as the ongoing killings in the region.
This was contained in a communiqué they issued at the end of their emergency meeting held in Enugu.
Chairman of the Southeast Governors’ Forum and governor of Ebonyi State, Chief David Umahi, who read the communiqué to newsmen, said that the Governors and people of the zone should do everything within the law to ensure that there is no further Sit-At -Home in the Southeast and that people are allowed to freely move about in the zone.
According to the Igbo leaders, the meeting also agreed that the Southeast Ebubeagu security outfit be launched in all the Southeast states and laws passed in various states in the zone before the end of 2021.
The Communiqué further stated that they agreed to support election in Anambra State and directed security agencies to ensure peaceful election in the state come November 6th, 2021.
They equally resolved to support security agencies to restore peace in the Southeast and mandated the clergymen, Bishops, CAN, Ohaneze and traditional rulers to continue to dialogue with the youths.
” The Governors and leaders of the Southeast condemned the killings in the region and have agreed to join hands with security agencies to stop killings
It added “the meeting condemned the Sit-At-Home orders which are mostly issued by our people in diaspora who do not feel the pains.
” In view of the information that even IPOB had cancelled the Sit-At-Home, the meeting resolved that governors and all the people of Southeast to do everything within the law to ensure that there is no further Sit-At-Home in the Southeast and that people are allowed to freely move about in the zone.
Present at the meeting were, governor Umahi , Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuany, Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinmms, Fomer Enugu State Governor, Okwesilieze Nwodo, Fomer Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, former President General of Ohananeze Ndigbo, Nnia Nwodo, Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe, Senate Minority leader , Enyinnaya Abaribe, Deputy Minority leader in the house of Representatives, Toby Okechukwu chairman of Enugu State Traditionals Council, Lawrence Agubuzu, Clergy men, among other dignitaries.
