South East APC Leadership Okays Suspension Of Ebonyi Chairman

ENUGU NIGERIA (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – The South East leadership of the ruling All progressive Congress APC, has ratified the suspension of Hon. Ben Nwaobosi as Chairman of the party in Ebonyi state.
This followed the report of a Fact finding/Disciplinary Committee set up pursuant to APC Constitution Article 21B (ii), by the South East Zonal Committee of the party to mediate on the Chairmanship crisis in the State.
A statement signed by the zonal publicity Secretary, Hon. Hycienth Ngwu, and made Available to African Examiner Monday explained that the ratification was done in pursuant to the “Committee’s recommendation submitted to the Zonal Executive on 14th October 2016.
The statement disclosed that “the Zonal Executive Committee met on 27th October 2016 and resolved to sustain the suspension of Hon. Ben Nwaobosi as the Ebonyi state Chairman of APC.
The Ebonyi State Executive Committee members of the, APC had earlier on, relying on Article 21 D (vi) of the Party’s Constitution (October 2014 as amended), passed a vote of no confidence on its State Chairman, Hon Ben Nwaobasi, and consequently suspended the said Chairman from Office.
It added “And whereas the matter was brought before the South East Zonal Executive Committee and a Five-man “Fact-Finding/Disciplinary Committee, pursuant to Article 21 B(ii) of APC Constitution, was set up with Senator Ifeanyi Ararume, as the Chairman, and were mandated to mediate on the matter and report back to the meeting subsequently.
“The report of the Fact-finding/Disciplinary Committee was transmitted to the South East Zonal Executive Committee, on 14th October, 2016 at the South East Zonal Office.
According to the statement, “The Zonal Committee met on 27th October, 2016, and ratified the suspension of Mr. Ben Nwaobasi as recommended by the Fact-finding/Disciplinary Committee.
“The ratification was supported by 14 out of 15 members of the Zonal Executive Committee members present at the meeting.
“Therefore in exercise of Article 17 (vi), of the Party’s Constitution, Pastor Eze Nwachukwu Eze who was Mr. Nwaobasi’s deputy remains the acting State Chairman of APC in Ebonyi.
“We hereby urge our members in Ebonyi State to cooperate with him to move the Party forward in the State.
