South East APC Advises IPOB, MASSOB, Avengers, Others to Embrace Dialogue

ENUGU, NIGERIA (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – The South- East chapter of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC),has called on various agitating groups in parts of Nigeria, such as IPOB, MASSOB and Niger Delta Avengers, to lay down their arms and embrace dialogue using their representatives in Government as fronts in their engagements with the Federal Government.

“This, we believe will help achieve the desired goal under a very peaceful atmosphere, because nothing compares with dialogue as conflict resolution strategy.

They also hailed President Muhamadu Buhari, for constituting an electoral and constitution reform committee that would entrenched a transparent and credible electoral process in Nigeria.

“We believe in the ability of Senator Ken Nnamani, as the chairman of this committee to give Nigerians the much desired credible electoral reforms.

The party stated this in Enugu at the end of her one day meeting attended by its leaders from the five states of south east geo political zone of Nigeria.

A communique, jointly signed by the National Vice Chairman in charge of the zone, Hon. Emma Eneukwu, zonal secretary, Jonah Mkpuruka, and publicity secretary, Hon. Hycienth Ngwu, said:”we reiterate our zone’s implicit confidence in the ability of the Federal Government under the leadership of President Buhari to return Nigeria on the path of economic growth soonest.

According to the party, “We know that the current recession in the country is a product of years of planlessness, reckless spending and massive looting of our common resources.

“We, therefore, appeal for patience to all Nigerians particularly Ndi-igbos and support President Buhari as he takes the country to the promise land.

The communique equally applauded the APC led Federal Government for setting up a technical committee on herdsmen/farmers clash.

“We believe the committee’s recommendations will bring to an end the clashes between herdsmen and farmers which had led to the loss of many lives and property in Igbo-land in particular and Nigeria in general.

“The APC South East also commends the Federal Government for releasing funds to Contractors to re-construct Enugu-Onitsha and Enugu-Portharcourt express highways.

It noted that “the roads which were abandoned for more than 16 years, are now death-traps to commuters plying them, calling on the contractors to move into action and complete the jobs on schedule.

“We shall constitute a committee to monitor the execution of the projects. We urge Mr. President to make more appointments in the South East.

The meeting, presided over by Hon. Eneukwu, was attended by minister for Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, Senator Ben Uwajumogu, of Imo North senatorial district, national Organising Secretary, Senator Osita Izunaso.

Others includes,Chief George Moghalu National Auditor.

Senators Ifeanyi Ararume, Dr. Ben Nwoye, Chairman, Enugu state chapter, amongst other leaders and chieftain.

The party also praised the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC, and Security Agents “for a credible and successful senatorial bye-election in Imo North Senatorial District recently.

“We also congratulate Senator Ben Uwajumogu, on his election and swearing-in as a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
