South Carolina Governor Wants Death Penalty For Charleston Church Shooter
Featured, Latest Headlines, World News Friday, June 19th, 2015South Carolina’s governor Nikki Haley says the suspect in the shooting and killing of 9 black worshipers at an African-American church in Charleston should face the death penalty if convicted.
Speaking on shooting the governor said “We will absolutely want him to have the death penalty.”
The governor also asked residents to remain calm and peaceful following the shooting incident adding“we’ve got some pain we have to go through. Parents are having to explain to their kids how they can go to church and feel safe.”
Dylann Roof, a 21-year-old white man, was arrested on Thursday for shooting nine people at a historic African-American church in South Carolina.
The victims of the gruesome shooting are: Rev Clementa Pinckney, Susie Jackson, Rev Sharonda Singleton, Depayne Middleton, Rev Daniel Simmons Sr, and Tywanza Sanders.
The U.S. Department of Justice is investigating the attack as a hate crime, motivated by racism or other prejudice.
