Another shocker in the insurgency controversy, has been launched as a new video clip showing the leader of the dreaded Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau, confirming he was alive and not killed as against the claims by the military high hierarchy last week.
In the video footage obtained by the Agence-France-Presse Thursday, Shekau faulted the death claims early last month in Kodunga, Borno State, during a gun battle with the military. He also claimed in the video that the towns already captured by the insurgents were under strict Islamic Law.
The video showed the acclaimed Boko Haram leader saying: “Here I am, alive. I will only die the day Allah takes my breath” adding that the group was administering Sharia punishment in its “Islamic caliphate”.
It would be recalled the Director of Defence Information, Major Gen. Chris Olukolade, last week Wednesday confirmed while addressing a press conference in Abuja, that Shekau has since been killed, while his replica and an eccentric character claimed to be insurgents’ leader, namely Bashir Muhammed among others was killed by the soldiers in Kodunga – one of the terrorized towns in the war torn Borno state.
