The Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Tukur Buratai on Monday in Abuja attributed his escape from assassination attempt made on his life by members of an Islamic sect, Shiite in Zaria to the Grace of God.
Buratai stated this while fielding questions from reporters at the National Assembly, Abuja, after his appearance along with the Minister of Defence and other Service Chiefs before the Senate Committee on Defence.
Asked to give his own account of the incident, he said, “You want to know how I escaped? It was by the will of God that I was able to escape from that place”.
“I think NTA was there and they aired the clip, it was very clear. They (Shiite members) were violent, definitely this is very clear, the clips are there. That was what happened”.
The Army Chief urged Nigerians to be law abiding in whatever they do in any part of the country, saying “nobody should take the law into his hands”.
