Senior Immigration Officer Shot Dead In Imo
Featured, Latest Headlines, News Across Nigeria, News From The State Monday, May 31st, 2021(AFRICAN EXAMINER) – The lifeless body of the Chief Provost of Imo State Command of Nigeria Immigration Service, (NIS), Okiemute Mrere, has been found in a bush along the Owerri, Port Harcourt Express road.
He was reportedly killed yesterday by unknown armed men who dumped his corpse in a bush.
The deceased was said to be driving an Immigrations Hilux van when he was intercepted by his assailants and shot at close range
It was gathered that no valuable was taken from the van even as his service pistol was found on him when his body was discovered on Sunday .
The official Hilux van he was riding in as of the time he was attacked was said to be riddled with bullets.
When contacted, the Service Public Relations Officer PPRO, Winifred Oguh, confirmed the Incident, saying although, the Command was yet to get full details and was still investigating the incident.
“Yes I can confirm to you that we lost one of our officers, Deputy Superintendent of Immigration (DSI) Okiemute Mrere” she said.
“We are yet to get full details of the incident as investigations are still ongoing.
The incident is one of high profile killings in the state in the last 72 hours.
