Senates Fails To Confirm EFCC Acting Chairman, Magu

ABUJA, NIGERIA (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – In contrast to its announcement Wednesday, the Senate today failed today to conduct the screening and confirmation of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) acting Chairman, Mr. Ibrahim Magu.

Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu yesterday indicated the upper legislative Chamber’s resolve to conduct the screening Thursday and urged his colleagues to participate in the exercise.

It became obvious that the exercise will not hold Thursday, as it was not read as parts of the issues listed for the lawmakers’ consideration in their plenary. There was no official reason given for the development

However, in line with the Senate’s announcement, Magu and key EFCC officials have arrived at the Senate, hoping to be called for the screening.

The Senate has since June 2016 received letter for Magu’s confirmation, from Vice President Professor Yemi Osinbajo.
