BALTIMORE, MD (AFRICAN EXAMINER) – The dust raised by alleged missing of the 2016 budget bill recently presented to the National Assembly (NASS) by President Muhammadu Buhari is yet to settle, as the Senate Wednesday set up a committee to search for the proposed financial document.
The latest development followed a point of order raised by Senator Eyinanya Abaribe at the mid-week plenary session.
Senate President, Bukola Saraki confirmed the search committee in his response to Senator Abaribe’s point of order.
Since the news broke Tuesday, the opposition PDP Senators have alleged that the Presidency was responsible for the missing. President Buhari’s Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu has denied the Presidency alleged link to the mysterious budget bill missing. Saraki had also met with Mr. President on the matter.
The upper Legislative chamber’s plan to commence deliberation Tuesday on the proposed budget was truncated due to missing of the budget.
