David Mark, Nigeria’s President of the senate, on Friday narrowly escaped death by the whiskers when his convoy was attacked by gunmen in Orlu area of Imo State.
The Nigeria National Assembly NASS leader, African Examiner gathered, was on his way to the burial ceremony of late business mogul, Sir John Richard Anyaehie in Nkwerre Community of Imo state when the incident occurred.
According to the Senate President, who was economical with details of how the incident happened, simply said, “though no life was lost, the attack occurred in Orlu Senatorial Zone of the state”.
Mark however, regretted that such unholy act was not expected in a senatorial district like Orlu and in a moment when a great son of Imo state and philanthropist like Anyaehie was being committed to mother earth.
The senate president, described late Anyaehie as a truthful man and good adviser, from whom he benefited as a young military Major in Port Harcourt River state, saying his first encounter with the deceased was the greatest in his life.
Mark therefore, advised Nigerians to always prepare for their death by being humble and godly like the late business icon, pointing out that his life united people of Nkwerre, Orlu Senatorial Zone and Imo State at in general.
Delivering his sermon at the funeral service, Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Orlu, Rt. Rev. Beneth Okoro, had warned Christians not to die in sin as that could be very dangerous after death.
