Senate President Bukola Saraki Urges Senators to Embrace Buhari’s Change Mantra
Featured, Latest Headlines, News Tuesday, June 9th, 2015Ayodele Afolabi, Abuja – The new Senate President Bukola Saraki in his acceptance speech on Tuesday promised to carry all senators along in his decision making.
He also urged the senators to key into the change mantra the President Buhari administration is known for, so as to meet expectations of Nigerians.
“I believe what you have demonstrated is the change Nigerians are yearning for, where election of leadership of the National Assembly will be done internally and not influenced from outside in anyway.
“The change our people voted for is a change from impunity to strict adherence to due process, fairness, equity and justice.
This is a change that all of us in the National Assembly, must protect and make beneficial to the greatest number of Nigerians guided by modern democracy and built on the principle of separation of power”. he said.
Governors and other important dignitaries who attended the inauguration and election were mostly from PDP, even as the Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, the chairman of the APC Governors forum sat for just three minutes when he saw that none of the other APC governors was around to join their counterparts from PDP like Olusegun Mimiko, Ondo State, Benedict Ayade , Cross River State and others.
