Sea Pirates Strike Again, Kill Three Policemen In Rivers
Latest Headlines, News Wednesday, June 24th, 2015By Ignatius Okpara, Port-Harcourt – Less than a week Sea pirates killed a Naval officer in Balyesa state, three marine policemen, including an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) on patrol, were Tuesday killed by Sea hoodlums in Rivers State, South South Nigeria.
The ugly incident our Correspondent gathered occurred near the Abonnema Jetty in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital.
AFRICAN EXAMINER learnt that 24 sea pirates operating in four speed boats, ambushed the policemen Tuesday afternoon.
The hoodlums, who have been terrorizing the water ways of Balyesa and Rivers states, were said to have suddenly opened fire on the late security men.
One of the five occupants of the police patrol boat, who survived the attack, was said to have jumped into the deep river and swam to safety.
The State’s Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO) Mr. Ahmad Mohammad when contacted, said he could not give details immediately, adding that information available to him was still sketchy.
He said: “What I have now is a sketchy detail.”
