Saraki Names 4 Committees As Dino Melaye Emerges Senate Spokesperson

By Abdul Gaffar Bello – The recently announced Nigeria Service Chiefs by President Muhammadu Buhari will be screen tomorrow during the plenary session, by 11.00am.
The Senators are expected to confirm the Security Chiefs after and the outcome of the screening exercise.
The screening and confirmation exercises, Senator Saraki, who also appointed three standing committees and an ad hoc, stated was in line with the provisions of Section18 (1) of the Armed Forces Act, 2004.
Following relief of the former Service Chiefs of their posts, President Buhari, on July 13, named the new Country’s Chief security officers, which included: Major General Abayomi Olonishakin as the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS); Major General Tukur Buratai, Chief of Army Staff (COS); Air Vice-Marshal Sadique Abubakar, Chief of Air Staff; Rear Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, Chief of Naval Staff as well as Air Vice-Marchal Monday Morgan as Chief of Defence Intelligence. Major General Babagana Monguno (rted) was announced as the National Security Adviser (NSA).
The Senate President also appointed three standing committees and an ad hoc.
The committees and their heads included: Services, headed by Senator Ibrahim Gobir (Sokoto East); Rules and Business by Senator Babajide Omoworare (Osun Central ) as Chairman, also Ethics and Privileges, headed by Senator Samuel Anyanwu of ( Imo East ) senatorial districts.
Senator Dino Melaye (Kogi West) was announced as the Chairman, Ad-Hoc Committee on information and Public Affairs.
In the meantime, Senate President has directed members of the upper chambers to approach Clerk of the House to obtain forms, so as to indicate committees of their interest and which they wish to serve.
