Saraki In Second Appearance At CCT Over False Asset Declaration Trial
Latest Headlines, News Wednesday, October 21st, 2015The Senate President, Bukola Saraki has arrived the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) Tribunal in continuation of his trial over false declaration of asset and 13 other criminal charges against him.
Saraki arrived the Tribunal Wednesday in company of some Senators loyal to him, including his Deputy, Ike Ekweremadu, Senate Leader, Aliyu Ndume, the acting Senate Spokesperson, Dino Melaye, Stellah Oduah, Aliyu Wamako, Sam Egwu among others.
While responding to the charges preferred against him on September 18 – the first time he appeared before the Tribunal after failing twice to show up, Saraki pleaded not guilty to the charges.
His Counsels, led by the former Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Mr. Joseph Dawodu has appealed against the CCT trial, on the grounds of incompetence of jurisdiction of the Tribunal as well as improper composition of its membership.
With respect to plea by Dawodu for his client to study the charges, the CCT Chairman, Mr. Danladi Umar adjourned the hearing till today – Wednesday, October 21, 2015.
