Road Mishap Claims 3 Lives In Enugu
Latest Headlines, News, News From The State, Uncategorized Sunday, March 15th, 2015FROM IGNATIUS OKPARA, Enugu – Three persons were on saturday killed in a fatal motor accident that occurred along the Enugu Abakaliki road, just as five assorted vehicles,a restaurant, and other valuables worth several millions of naira, were also consumed in an inferno that gutted the Nsukka merchanic village in Enugu state same day.
The state police public Relations officer, PPRO Ebere Amarizu, who disclosed this to African Examiner on Sunday in Enugu said, “three persons lost their lives while four others were critically injured in a road mishap that took place on saturday,along the Abakiliki road axis, by idodo bridge Amechi idodo Enugu state.
According to him, the mishap occurred when a trailer coming from Abakiliki end, heading to Enugu, allegedly hit a sheirron car with registration number EKY 38 CE also coming from Abakiliki to Enugu “resulting to the death of three persons and leaving four in a critical stage”.
The injured, he hinted have been taken to Annunciation Hospital, Emene Enugu for medical attention, while the remains of the dead ones have also been deposited at same Hospital mortuary.
On the Nsukka fire incident,he said information reaching his office, had it that it started from a panel beater workshop at the mechanic village, and later spread to the Restaurant and other areas.
Meanwhile, as at the time of filling this report, management of the merchanic village, as well as security operatives are yet to ascertain the cause of the disaster, which started in the mid night.
Amarizu, stated that most of the burnt vehicle were brought to the place for repair, while some were cars of people who came to eat in the affected restaurant.
He assured that the State police command would carry out full scale investigation into the ugly incident which has thrown owners of properties destroyed into confusion and pains.

“No life was lost and the vehicles burnt were believed to be for various kinds of repairs, and the ones brought to the restaurant”
“The fire was on, until the arrival of the Fire Service personnel who quickly move into the scene and put it off”
“It would have caused more havoc on some other vehicles, if not for the quick intervention of the fire men.”
